Apparel Computer Aided Design Laboratory

cad labThe Apparel Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Laboratory is a unique hands-on experiential learning facility offering apparel students access to the latest in technology and software pertinent to the apparel industry.  Students have the opportunity to learn apparel design and product development software and programs that are integrated in various courses throughout the curriculum.  Computer and CAD skills are invaluable elements of the apparel program to ensure that graduates are equipped with skills often required in the textile and apparel industry.

CAD facilities and software available include 18 industry specific workstations which are updated annually.   Students have opportunities to learn digitizing, patternmaking, pattern grading, and marker making.  Also in the CAD laboratory is an industrial 72” plotter and full-size pattern digitizer.  In addition, students have opportunities to learn industry sketching and design software programs.  In an adjoining computer laboratory with 25 personal computers, students learn to utilize a number of software packages for product development, design, and retail use. Funding in support of the CAD Laboratory is provided, in part, by Lectra, Inc. and Wild Ginger, Inc.
