Apparel Product Development Laboratories
Product Development Laboratories for student use include an Apparel Production Laboratory, the Apparel Design Laboratory, and the Visual Merchandising Laboratory. The Apparel Construction laboratory is equipped with 28 production workstations for student use in completion of courses in general and advanced apparel construction. The Apparel Design Laboratory has unique cork top tables handmade by a local woodworker to specifications that best fit student needs for effective design workspace. Patternmaking, pattern grading, and draping students easily move from the Production Lab to the Design Lab as they complete projects, often taking advantage of the wide variety of workroom mannequins available.
The Visual Merchandising Laboratory offers a series of full size display windows that students access for merchandise display purposes. Apparel students have the opportunity to create and design unique window displays thanks to the use of loaned merchandise from local boutiques and retailers.
The Product Development, Production, and Visual Merchandising Laboratories are equipped, in part, by company and alumni donations of products, display items, and needed course materials.
